Photo Color Correction in New York

Color correction makes a photo accurate and consistent. UNO Postproduction does it for photographers, magazines and brands. This page covers color correction for still photos.

What color correction covers

Color correction comes before any creative look, and it usually includes:

  • White balance and exposure, matched across a series.
  • Skin tones that stay natural and consistent from frame to frame.
  • Garments and products matched to a sample or reference.
  • Consistency between different cameras, lights and shooting days.
  • High-resolution files developed from your RAW captures.

You can see it across our fashion, beauty and commercial work.

Correction or grading

Correction makes the image accurate. Grading gives it a mood. Most finished images need both, in that order, and it helps to be clear about which one you're asking for. Color correction vs color grading explains the difference.

Matching a product

The most reliable reference is the physical item, or a brand's color standard such as a Pantone number. A color target shot on set makes matching much easier. How to keep product color consistent has the details.

RAW files give the most room to work. What files to send a retoucher covers what to do if you only have processed files.
